Spotify

Spotify is another form of digital music service for the most part spotify is considered a “freemium” meaning for basic features it is free but for any other special additional features there's a subscription cost. With spotify you are able to download, share, listen, create a personalized playlist  and stream music. Spotify first launched on October 7,2008, founders of spotify are Daniel EK who happens to be a “swedish billionaire entrepreneur and technologist”, Daniel is also the CEO of spotify. The second spotify founder is Martin Lorentzon, who has a net worth of 1.3 Billion and not only is the co-founder of spotify but is also founder of Tradedoubler which is a digital marketing company located in Sweden.
Spotify offers three forms of subscriptions: First is the basic “Free” features that allows you to have access to over 30 Million songs, access to podcast and videos and lets you travel abroad with up to 14 days with your music. The second subscription is the “premium” which includes the bassic free features including: on demand music access, no ad interruption and even lets you  listen offline. The third subscription is the “ premium for family”  offers all the basic “free” and “premium “ features ,but  with the family premium subscription you are allowed to add up to 6 accounts under one cost.
Spotify offers great features when it comes to music sharing and sponsoring as well, on the app there is a “sponsor playlist” which is a way music brands and able to specifically target out audiences that they think might be interested in a particular kind of music. This spotify feature was made available on May of 2016. Spotify offers great easy ways to browse music by being able to search the artist, album, genre, playlist or a record label. With such a great variety in music along with a free and simple way to access it ,can cause controversy and often times legal problems there are of course some record labels along with artist who are not on spotify for various reasons. According to Steve Kopper author of  “The 10 Biggest Artists That Refuse to Stream Their Music.” Rolling Stone, Rolling Stone, 2 Jan. 2015, . One music artist who is not on spotify is Taylor Swift, swift commented  “ im not willing to contribute my life's work to an experiment that i don't feel fairly compensated the writers, producers, artist and creators of this music”, for the most part Taylor Swift did not like the idea of her music being freely available to the public without being compensated for her work. Swift is open to being on spotify as long as her music is under the paid “premium”  subscription. Spotify is a great was to listen to music for free but like everything free there is a price to pay many artist have reason they would or would not like to be Media Music outlets like spotify. Spotify is just another great way to listen, stream and download music.

  1. The main point of this blog is to inform and cover the music outlet of Spotify. The author covered the history of the app and the main components beneath the app. The way the author used the source was through the history section about the founders of Spotify. The other time the source is being used is in the part when Taylor Swift did not like the idea of having her music on a platform that is available to everyone. If the author were to revise this, I would try to focus on the whole point of this blog more to the connection of Taylor Swift and her stance on apps like Spotify. The ending was interesting and wished it could've have connected to the content before the ending. Are their other that look at their music not worthy to be listened to like how Swift is saying.
