The Billboard Hot 100 is an all music genre that ranks and measures songs based on their sales and overall popularity of the song how many times its played/streamed. Billboard first began selling out as a magazine first published in November of 1894. William h. Donaldson and James Hennegan are the founders of the billboard, when they first began publishing music was never a part of the Billboard. The billboard music itself has been measured since the 1940. It wasn't until January 4,1936 when the first popularity ranking bagan. Billboard published the chart “Top 100” on November 12,1955, the Top 100 is only for music Singles tracking the most played/popular every week.
As of March 31,2018 the billboard's Hot 100 charts coming in first place is Drake with God's Plan. already the single god's plan has been on the number one for Billboards charts hot 100 for the ninth week in a row as well as becoming one of the most streamed song in a single day on spotify. How a song makes it to the billboard charts isnt as complicated as it might seem there are a few ways some include: airplay, Social Media, Album Sales and streaming.

d is the amount of Air play time. Airplay is the broadcasting of a particular, song, or performer. If a song is playing on repeat over and over again the odds are that song in most likely already on the billboard charts. Music Airplay is tracked by the Broadcast Data System (BDS), BDS keeps count of the amount of times a song is played in the radio, television or internet.
The second way a song can make it to the billboard is streaming and social media. You can stream a song in many different ways a few examples are you can stream via music subscriptions with Apps like spotify,pandora, amazon music, google play. Another form of streaming is saving the song through your phone, tablet or computer. There are just a few examples you stream a particular song. Streaming is different from actually downloading the song but saving it instead in theses forms of digital Music media services.
The third way a song can make it to the billboards is album sales, SoundScan is another form of monitoring device that helps track the sales of music and music videos. Total sales of the particular song are a great way to move up into the charts. The billboard charts tracks and monitors many other thing that can also get you a shot on the billboard. The billboard host music award for these artist to honor these great music artist and have been doing so annually. Billboard awards varey in great amounts with awards such as: Top rap tour, top rap artist, top female artist, top male artist.top country artist, top rock tour, top country tour ect. There are various awards an artist can qualify for music artist Drake was nominated and won a few of these award in 2017 , drake was awarded with Top song sales artist, Top Hot 100 artist, Top Billboard 200 artist, top male artist and a few more awards! Billboard is a great way for music artist to be recognized and be honored for their hard work in the music career.
The main purpose of this blog post is to educate their audience on how Billboard works and what exactly determines how a song gets to be on top of the charts. I'm not sure if the writer included a source because there was a lot of information that was there without it being backed up by evidence from a source. I believe they should incorporate their source more into their writing in order to make it more credible. My question is do you believe there is anything else that should be taken into account when considering what songs should be on the top charts?
